Once again the weather was good when it needed to be.
It’s been a bit of a slow start to the wedding season this year with some couples apparently showing their superstitious side and putting off the big day for the year 2013. It was pointed out to me recently that Canon don’t use the number 13 in their cameras or 14 because the Japanese are very superstitious. Anyway I digress.
I’ve been privileged to photograph a number of weddings at the beautiful seeting of The Walled Garden, Cowdray, Midhurst which is a small market town in the most beautiful part of the West Sussex countryside. A fabulous place for a quintessential English wedding which was aided with the couple’s chosen car for day being a Morris Minor. You can’t get much more English than that. The wedding ceremony took place at St James Church, Elstead around 14 miles from Midhurst and then back to Midhurst for the reception in the Walled Garden.
I have to mention Marvic too the bride’s mother who did a wonderful job of the flowers as she is herself a fabulous florist down in the West Country..
The bride, Kate looked stunning in a very elegant white wedding dress. Brendan and Kate made us very welcome which made it easy for us to capture some great photos. One of the techniques I really enjoy to create some wedding photographs with a difference and drama is using off camera studio flash. I took some of the couple against the ruins of Cowdray Castle using this technique. The Cowdray estate is well known for hosting polo matches.
Jacaranda Caterers, The Walled Garden’s recommended catering company, were on hand to host the feast for Karen and Brendan’s wedding reception. With their own offices conveniently located next to The Walled Garden, Jacaranda know this venue like the back of their hand and were therefore able to deliver the exquisite food and exceptional service for which they are renown. http://www.jacarandacatering.com/
