A fun and creative Somerset wedding photography adventure we had on this first sunny Saturday of June in the wonderful setting of Hinton House, Hinton Charterhouse in Somerset. The very picturesque village is in an area of outstanding natural beauty. As this wedding was a bit of a journey for us we set out on Friday and stayed in a B&B local to the wedding venue as I’d much rather do that than travel on the day and worry about getting to the wedding on time with such a long distance from my home in West Sussex.
Hinton House is privately owned by friends of the family of the Bride & Groom so this was the first wedding they had hosted there since the current owners took over the house. They put on shoots during the season but from my point of view I do hope they do more weddings as I’d love to go there again and photograph more weddings. Nicky the host and her staff put on a wonderful day and were true professionals. I having attended many venues and would say they did a far better job than some of the places who’s business is hosting weddings.
The ceremony itself took place at St Johns Church which adjoins the grounds of Hinton House so in easy walking distance for the bride.
The bride looked absolutely stunning in her wedding dress, this dress in particular was truly fantastic from a photography point of view as it photographed superbly, the way the dress moved and shapes created made for some wonderful wedding photography. Because my style of photography isn’t just to document but create stylised, posed photos; my signsture style,
Chloe made things very easy as she wanted me to do more not less. Sometimes I have to use a bit of persuasion to encourage the couple in to doing a few more posed photos. She really was a photographer’s dream bride to photograph.
James and I had a great time and want to thank Chloe and Adam for being a great bride and groom to work and to Nicky their host for making us very welcome and taking care of us.
Very best wishes to the couple starting a new phase of your life. May you enjoy many years of happiness together from all of us at Paul Johnson Photography.
