Presenting the awards and top judge was Olympus ambassador Damian McGillicuddy; the modern day David Bailey. The winning photograph is shown here and was shot at our studio as one of our makeover and photo shoot sessions. I was going through some recent weddings looking for potential photos to enter in to some awards in 2013. Here’s one I am hoping will do quite well. Shot with off camera flash, assistant was hand holding the flash just out of picture to the right of the bride. Off camera is one of my favourite ways to create photos.
I love shooting weddings in London. The architecture and choice of backgrounds old and new make for such a variety of photo opportunities. Turkish weddings are such lively affairs. Its non-stop action and they always tend to be long days. I left home at 10am and got back at 12.30am so that was a fourteen and a half hour day door to door. We arrived in London near Oxford Street to start with the couple shots at Chandos House in Queen Anne Mews, just a short walk from Oxford Circus. By the way I highly recommend lunch at Vapiano in Great … Continue reading
On valentines day I went to London to take photos for Sara & Nick’s pre-wedding shoot on the Southbank of the Thames instead of in the studio which is where I usually do the pre-wedding photo shoot. Starting at City Hall and ending opposite the House of Parliament. As so often is the case with shooting in London I got approached outside City Hall by some security guy telling us we shouldn’t be there taking photos. This really gets my goat that we photographers are constantly hounded when we are doing no harm, not causing anyone any inconvenience, yet every time I have taken photos … Continue reading
It was a typical winters days for Jo & Joe’s wedding. It was a windy, wet and cold day to be expected but we still came away with some great photos. The wedding took place in Tadworth with the reception at the wonderful Southlodge Hotel near Horsham which I have been to many times over the years. I’ve included a few photos from the day. We couldn’t do any outside due to the weather. I still managed to get home in time to celebrate the new year with my family. It was a great day and they are such a fun couple.
In December we had the pleasure of photographing Kim & Steve. Starting in Odiham where the bride got ready. As you can see from the photos the couple were blessed with a glorious sunny winter’s day. The church in the town of Odiham was All Saints Church. Following the ceremony and what must have been the most amount of confetti I have ever seen on a wedding, off we went to Farham about ½ hour away by car for the reception. Farnham Castle where the wedding reception took place is a beautiful setting for a wedding. We still had some … Continue reading
We recently had the pleasure to photograph the wedding of Natalie & Furquan at the wonderful Mandarin Oriental Hotel in Knightsbridge. Many famous people entertain here and I recall the Queens dinned here just before the Royal Wedding last year. I have been fortunate enough to shoot a number of weddings at the hotel over the years but not quite as big as this one. Everything took place at the hotel so there were no concerns with travelling around London to churches. It was a long day; I left home at 9am with Jake my assistant and we left the … Continue reading
First stop of the day was to do some bridal preps shots at the Marriott Hotel in Lingfield. We made our way into the hotel suite to meet Nadia and her impressive number of 12 bridesmaids. The floor to ceiling windows created a lovelly quality of light in the room to make some beautiful bridal shots, the contemporary décor complimented the bride’s fantastic wedding dress, and the open space in the room allowed us to take some wonderful group shots of the bride with her bridesmaids. It was an inspiring environment for a contemporary style of wedding photography. That red … Continue reading
I’m doing a bit of catching up on blogging some of last years weddings that I didn’t have the during the busy summer months. Over the years I’ve photographed a few wedding at Oakley Court in Bray, Berkshire. With its splendid gardens on on the Thames this is one very special hotel in the South East to have a wedding at. We were very lucky on the day as the rain left off for most of the day and we managed to get the shots taken before the weather turned on us. The church ceremony was held at St Nicholas … Continue reading
Just recently in the New Year we had the pleasure to visit Gosfield Hall near Braintree in Essex. I have been to Gosfield Hall 3 times within the past 2 months to shoot weddings which is quite unusual considering it’s nearly 100 miles from where I live. I don’t really mind though as it’s a lovely venue to work at in all weather conditions it’s great for photography. On Vicky & Onn’s wedding as you will see below we were blessed with a beautiful winter’s day and quite mild as well as being so beautiful. We had an early start … Continue reading
