Hever Castle Wedding In The Italian Gardens And Loggia

image

What a fun wedding this was. You know instantly at the brides home how the day is going to pan out and we were made very welcome right from the start and have to say what a fun and jovial FOB the brides father was, non stop joking which just had us in stitches.

This weekend was scorching hot, well for Engand it was and it was a nice local wedding for me at one of my favourite places in the South East, the Italian Gardens at Hever Castle just outside Edenbridge, Kent.

The Loggia is where the civil wedding took place. Outside but under cover this overlooks the 38 Acre Lake. The Italian styled architecture of the Loggia with its Trevi style fountain makes for a wonderful drinks reception area following the ceremony. That’s where I take any group photos requested.
It was one of the hottest days this year and as summer came late this year the couple were particularly fortunate as the rose garden was in full bloom which they would have missed had the the roses bloomed at the normal week they do.

I was on this wedding from bridal preparations at the bride’s parents until the first dance about 8 hours later. As usual I got carried away and shot well over a 1000 photos. Here’s a few of my favourites from the day. If you are getting married soon and trying to figure out what to get your soon to be husband, why not do a boudoir session. You will both love the pictures for a long time. If you are interested then visit Boudoir Photography in CT.

Our very best wishes the lovely Anna and Mike for their futures together.

Hope You enjoy this small selection from the day.

Paul Johnson is a leading Kent wedding photographer and has photographed for many society weddings. As winner of the MPA photographer of the year for 2008, Paul is widely recognised as a leading UK and Kent wedding photographer.

Hever Castle is set in spectacular award winning gardens and is the perfect setting for your wedding day. The oldest part of the castle dates to 1270 and consisted of the gatehouse and a walled bailey. In the early 1500’s the Bullen family bought the castle and added a Tudor dwelling within the walls and it became the childhood home of its most famous inhabitant Anne Boleyn. It later passed into ownership of Henry’s fourth wife, Anne of Cleaves. The Castle has a homely atmosphere and houses historic 16th centaury Tudor portraits, furniture and tapestries.

The gardens at Hever Castle were laid out between 1904 and 1908, turning marshland into the gardens that are there today. One of the most magnificent areas of the garden is the Italian Garden, which was originally designed to display William Waldorf Astor’s collection of Italian sculpture. A stunning and historic garden in a delightful setting where the wedding photographer at Hever Castle can capture beautiful photographs of the bride and groom. There are many water features around the gardens including the formal loggia fountain which is based on the famous Trevi fountain in Rome.

The Astor Wing is licensed to hold wedding and partnership ceremonies all year round. It provides an Idyllic surrounding and has numerous breathtaking photography opportunities for Hever Castle wedding photographers to capture the most memorable and joyous day. The oak panelled Tudor Suite Sitting Room overlooks the castle and formal lawns. Adjacent is the Tudor Suite Dining Hall, shrouded with oak panelling and featuring a stunning fire place. Reception drinks can be taken in the Astor Wing or weather permitting on the lawn, your Hever Castle wedding photographer can enjoy the formal lawn where they can take the group shots of the wedding party. There is also an amazing opportunity for wedding photographers to photograph more formal pictures in the gardens that surround the Astor wing using the magnificent castle as the backdrop.

With its wonderful location setting and amazing history, this makes Hever Castle a popular choice of wedding venue for many brides. Hever Castle Wedding Photography Of Nadia & Darren.

First stop of the day was to do some bridal preps shots at the Marriott Hotel in Lingfield. We made our way into the hotel suite to meet Nadia and her impressive number of 12 bridesmaids. The floor to ceiling windows created a lovelly quality of light in the room to make some beautiful bridal shots, the contemporary décor complimented the bride’s fantastic wedding dress, and the open space in the room allowed us to take some wonderful group shots of the bride with her bridesmaids. It was an inspiring environment for a contemporary style of wedding photography. That red background in the mini folio was the curtain in the room. Something I have done on the odd occasion to create a different studio kind of look to some portraits.

Afterwards we made our way to the wedding ceremony venue, one of my favourites; Hever Castle in Kent. This was a wedding I really wanted to have some decent weather on as all it seems to do this year is rain. I think 2012 will be the year people remember for being one of the wettest ever. Just as the ceremony was about to start it literally chucked in down and this was an outdoor wedding in many respects being in the Logia in the Italian Gardens, luckily there was some shelter under the archways in the gardens and the Logia itself being under cover. As the bride was ready to make her way to the ceremony under the Logia, the weather turned for the better. Luck was on our side and it turned out to be wonderful and gave us some great light to work with.

Following the ceremony we took some group shots of the bridal party and then explored the Italian Gardens and the many features at Hever Castle to make some wonderful directed wedding photographs, and some documentary photographs for the couple.

Hever Castle has to be one of my favourite wedding venues and considering I travel throughout the UK and Europe covering weddings at this venue at just 20 minutes drive for me is so very handy.

Wedding Photography At Hever Castle

I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Victoria & Igor at the beautiful Russian Orthodox Church, South Kensington followed by a reception at Hever Castle in Kent. It was a very wet day but Victoria was up for photos outside at Hever despite the weather conditions. In may ways it sets the scene for some more unusual wedding photography as it offers opportunities for some lovely photos if the bride is brave enough. I hope you enjoy this sampling of the couples shots of the day.
