East Grinstead Wedding Photography

East Grinstead Wedding Photographers insight to local wedding venues.

Hever Castle wedding photo

I have been an East Grinstead wedding photographer for over 23 years. Over the course of my career I have photographer over 1500 weddings. Many of them taking place in and around East Grinstead.

Hever Castle

In recent years a lot of the weddings I photography have been further afield; the boom of the internet means I get engaged couples enquiring from all over the country although most of my weddings remain with the South East.

East Grinstead and the surrounding villages and have many places to get married at. St Swithuns Church in the High Street is a very popular church for the people who live in the town and want a church wedding. Although of course we have many faiths in the town St Swithuns church is a very beautiful setting for a church wedding.

Church weddings have been on the decline since the early 2000s when the laws changed on civil weddings and where these could be held. Thus has seen a big increase in the number of places conducting civil weddings at its big business.

Some of the most popular local places for not just civil weddings but weddings receptions too are below:

Gravetye ManorĀ is without doubt the most exclusive of all hotels in the area to have a wedding ceremony at or wedding reception. It has the most beautiful gardens and world renowned. Their culinary expertise is second to none. Click here to see an album at Gravetye Manor. The church wedding took place at Buxted.

Ashowdown Park Hotel on Ashdown Forest is a very popular wedding venue and wedding reception venue. In the summer I have photographed ceremonies on the lawns and beautiful architecture and magnificent grounds make it one the most popular of the local wedding venues. You can view a wedding album of mine here. The ceremony took place in Maresfiled

Alexander House Hotel near Turners Hill has expanded and grown to become a luxury 5 star hotel with spar. The old house has beautiful rooms and the library is perfect for intimate wedding ceremonies. Its south facing gardens means summer wedding receptions on the lawns can enjoy the sunny days our country has to offer.Click here to view some of my wedding photography at Alexander House in turners Hill

Ravenswood Inn. Sharpthorne offers civil weddings and wedding receptions. They can have up to two weddings on the same day as they have two parts of the building for weddings. They have invested massively in the expansion and development building and grounds. Here’s a wedding where the wedding reception took place at Ravenswood on a rather wet dayTypically a wedding that is held in the town means having the wedding reception fairy local and so my list are of the venues I would expect most couples to choose from if they are having an East Grinstead wedding. Below is a list of the East Grinstead wedding and reception venues I have photographed at and those within easy reach of the town,
The Felbridge Hotel
East Court Manor
Buckhurst Park in Withyham worth checking out; not many people know about this venue!
Yew Lodge
Rowfant House, near Turners Hill
Wakehurst Place
Copthorne Effingham Park
Copthorne Hotel
Kidbrooke Mansion set in the grounds of Michael Hall School – see a wedding album here
St Hill Manor, the former home of L Ron Hubbard see an albumĀ here
Hever Castle. is also a popular venue for East Grinstead Weddings. You can see an album of a civil wedding at Hever Castle here
Coltsford Mill in Hurst Green is within easy reach of East Grinstead. In this wedding I photographed the wedding was at the parish church in Lingfield and reception took place at the mill.Click here to see the album
Buxted Park is about 25 minutes drive so still within acceptable distance if you’re having a church wedding in East Grinstead. You can see an album here
Penshurst Place, a bit further but still close enough to East Grinstead to have a wedding reception at or civil wedding. Click here to see a civil wedding at Penshurst Place

There are certainly other weddings venues around and my list isn’t complete but it gives a range of the venues to consider for a variety of budgets.
