A winter wedding at Gosfield Hall

Just recently in the New Year we had the pleasure to visit Gosfield Hall near Braintree in Essex. I have been to Gosfield Hall 3 times within the past 2 months to shoot weddings which is quite unusual considering it’s nearly 100 miles from where I live. I don’t really mind though as it’s a lovely venue to work at in all weather conditions it’s great for photography. On Vicky & Onn’s wedding as you will see below we were blessed with a beautiful winter’s day and quite mild as well as being so beautiful. We had an early start as we arrived at 10am and this gave us an opportunity to take some landscapes around the grounds so the couple can have some nice photos to remember what a beautiful day they had for their winter wedding.

It’s been a while since I went out just for the fun of it to take some landscapes photos so off I went to the coast at Dungeness. This is quiet a strange place in many ways, it’s like going back in time as it feels like this place hasn’t changed for years. If you fancy a vistit to somewhere quite different I highly recommend it especailly if you like taking photos. I will take another trip there some point as I didn’t have quite enough time as I also wanted to photograph the acoustic mirrors bu these a bit of treck to get to as far as I can tell. If you google that term you’ll see what these objects are. I spent a couple of hours or so wandering the area seeking out photo opportunities and here’s some of my favorites.

From a photographers point if view in many respects to get a booking to shoot a wedding at such an historic beautiful venue and a gorgeous looking couple is a wedding photographers dream. When I first met Nisha & Nick last year at a wedding show at London’s Excel centre I was really excited a soon as they mentioned where their wedding was going to take place. I guess I’m selfish in many ways as I wanted to really be their chosen photographe because I know it would be such an inspiring venue to work at to create some beautiful wedding photographs and hopefully some award winners. Although it’s pretty difficult getting all the tourists to get out the way; with the wedding being August all the kids are on hols as well and a beautiful sunny day meant The Roman Baths were at capacity and queues of people waiting to get in.

We recently had the pleasure of photographing Karen & Tristan at he beautiful Botleys Mansion in Surrey. Weather was looking rather grey on our arrival but it turned to a much brighter day later in the day. Here’s a few from the days coverage. Hope you enjoy.

I have attended 100s of venues throughout the UK and what I was impressed with at Botleys was the very professional level of service of the staff, they were very helpful and the food came out to all the guests within a few minutes so all got to eat together unlike another recent wedding when the top table had finished their main course before some of the tables hadn’t still had their’s served so highly recommend Botleys Mansion to couples who are thinking of having their wedding there.

From a photography point of view it lends itself to some stunning photography in all waeather conditions.

Our baby Thomas at 8 days old

Some portraits of our new liitle baby BOY Thomas who was a week and 1 day old this morning at 2.10am. Thomas was a healthy 8lb6oz at birth and mother and baby are doing well although mum in particular is lacking some sleep. Photographing new born babies means you get to capture some priceless moments and we will treasure these many years and so too hopefully will Thomas in time. He’s such a cute little boy and some say he looks like me but I think he’s far cuter;)

Paul wins multiple awards in Master Photographers Assoc.

This year the Master Photographers Association South East awards judging took place at the Roebuck Hotel on Ashodown Forest. Ray Lowe, Fellow and head of judging visisted the regions and judged the entries. I was delighted to win numerous awards for my wedding and portrait photography again this year. Wedding photography at Hever Castle

I had the pleasure of photographing the wedding of Victoria & Igor at the beautiful Russian Orthodox Church, South Kensington followed by a reception at Hever Castle in Kent. It was a very wet day but Victoria was up for photos outside at Hever despite the weather conditions. In may ways it sets the scene for some more unusual wedding photography as it offers opportunities for some lovely photos if the bride is brave enough. I hope you enjoy this sampling of the couples shots of the day.

We had the pleasure on bank holiday Monday of shooting the wedding of Alex & Tony at the beautiful Gosfield Hall in Essex, the weather was just perfect or rather the timing was as no sooner had the guests sat down for the wedding breakfast did the weather turn rather awful but hey we got the photos done outside that we wanted good weather for and anyway by then no one really cared as the guests were enjoying the food. If it’s going to rain I often seem to experience days like this. Whether it’s my luck or the couple’s I don’t know but it happens so often it’s kinda spookey!

Chimmney Sweep at the wedding

I haven’t seen a chimmney sweep for a few years at a wedding. It’s a tradition dating back over 200 years and it’s apparently good luck for the bride to see one on her wedding day. Often they hide away like this one did ready to greet the bride and groom as soon as they walk out the church. In most cases arranged by the mother of the bride as a surprise.

I happended to see him as I popped outside the church during the ceremony for a few outside shots and couldn’t resist taking a shot of him. I processed the photo to give it a gritty look.

Liz & James at Hampton Court Palace Engagement shoot

Here’s a few of my favourite pictures of Liz & James on a rather wet Friday in March but still we came away with some lovely photos.

It’s not long now to the big day and I’m really looking forward to shooting their wedding as they are great subjects to photograph and the surroundings are just so beautiful. Fingers crossed for better weather in April on their special day.
