I was going through some recent weddings looking for potential photos to enter in to some awards in 2013. Here’s one I am hoping will do quite well. Shot with off camera flash, assistant was hand holding the flash just out of picture to the right of the bride. Off camera is one of my favourite ways to create photos.
This year I was very proud to be the overall winner in the Master Photographer Association South East Regional awards and above is my trophy.
I have won many awards and from time to time I announce these on my blog. You can view some of these by clicking here and then scrolling down this page.
A few of the many messages I received from clients:
When we first went through Paul’s signature albums we knew straight away that we just had to have Paul photograph our wedding. For us, we wanted perfect portrait shots both close-up and with much scenic background. This is exactly what Paul delivers.
It was a bonus for us that Paul also had previous experience of photographing weddings at the Mandarin Oriental. We dedicated a part of our wedding day solely to having portrait shots around the venue and the surrounding areas. Paul knew exactly where to go to get amazing shots and no time was wasted. It is clear that Paul has strong artistic flair as he always kept an eye out for new and different backgrounds. The result is a large number of unique portrait shots, all of which are flawless.
Most importantly Paul is lovely company and an absolute pleasure to work with. He made us feel at ease and gave us clear directions on how to pose and what to do when needed. Paul captured our whole wedding day perfectly.

Asking Paul to manage our wedding photography was the best choice we made. Numerous guests have commented on how creative, efficient and patient Paul was. He has a lovely calm manner which was certainly appreciated on the day. We didn’t feel like he was encroaching on the atmosphere as he was so effective at organizing the guests and our shot requests were fulfilled in no time. We could not be happier with the quality, creativity and originality of the photos taken and the ultimate design of the wedding album. This will definitely be a fantastic lasting memory of the day.
Thanks Nicola & Chris
Just a brief note to say what a wonderful album you have produced for us. It is really fantastic – thanks a lot. We are absolutely delighted by it.
Kind Regards Ian & Lorna
We found your service overall to be friendly and flexible, the photography on our wedding day was efficient and unobtrusive and the resulting album was very beautiful and has been much admired. We would recommend you without hesitation. Many thanks. Hope that helps. We really were over the moon with our album – love it!!
Thanks a lot – Caroline & John.
The choice of photographer was for a very important and difficult decision to make. Clearly we wanted someone good and professional but also someone that we were both happy to work with on the day. Paul came highly recommended and his portfolio was excellent. He made us feel very reassured and his conduct on the day was fantastic and non-intrusive, not to mention that we now have an unbelievable photo diary of our wedding -thank you! Kathryn & Sly
All I can say is OH. MY. GOD! The album is flat out amazing. Really unbelievable! It arrived safely this afternoon. We had to pay the deliveryman $157 in customs duties but all of that was immaterial once we opened the box and saw your amazing work. I can’t believe how much it took us both right back to that day. And, to top it off, tomorrow is my birthday! So, thank you very much indeed for producing such a beautiful album for us. All of the little touches…the different tones and splashes of colour…make this a real piece of art we will cherish forever. Thank you again! Melissa from USA.
This year the Master Photographers Association South East awards judging took place at the Roebuck Hotel on Ashodown Forest. Ray Lowe, Fellow and head of judging visisted the regions and judged the entries. I was delighted to win numerous awards for my wedding and portrait photography again this year. Following are my award winning photographs:
I am delighted to win so many awards in one go for my wedding photography. This was the first year I decided to put my mind to it and take the national Master Photographers Assoc awards seriously. I entered several photos from the past year and then to received so many certificates and awards is great recognition for the effort I have escpecially put in to improving the standards and creativety of my work over the past few years. Following are my certificates from the awards held in Birmingham of the Master Photography Awards. These awards are held annually for professional photographers and are the most prestigious in the UK.
The first award of Excellence is particularly special to me as I was one of only three to receive such an award from the whole of the UK.
On the 6th July I entered some of my work in to the South East regional Master Photographers Ass. awards. These awards are judged annually by one of the top national judges and this year we had Desi Fontaine the President of the MPA and head of judging visted the region where she gave a seminar about her work during the day and went on to do the print judging during the evening at the Holiday Inn at Gatwick.
To the general public the MPA may not be so well known but amongst professional photographers it is a very important organisation whos members are only full time professional photographers. Winning these awards is great recognition for the winning photographers.
Awarded in each category is the winner, an award of excellence and a merit or 1st, 2nd & 3rd places. There was a very good turnout this year with some beautiful work presented.
Here’s my winning entries:
For the Contemporary Wedding Category I am really delighted to have won 1st, 2nd & 3rd places with these photos:
